How is CDSPI different from other financial service providers?

CDSPI offers dental professionals and their families numerous advantages over financial service providers accessible to the general public.

A member service of the CDA and co-sponsoring participating provincial dental associations, the Canadian Dentists’ Insurance Program offers the most comprehensive insurance plans available to the dental profession, allowing dentists to deal with one organization for virtually all their insurance needs. Each plan in the Insurance Program was created specifically with dental professionals in mind — giving them access to features and options they need. And by pooling the buying power of dentists, the Insurance Program provides exceptional value.

The CDSPI-administered Canadian Dentists’ Investment Program, offers a range of investment plans to meet the financial needs of dental professionals and their families throughout all stages of their lives. What makes these investment plans unique is the CDA family of funds in which they invest. CDA funds come with an exceptional performance record — outperforming most other funds in their categories over the long term. Unlike many investment firms where funds are directed by a single management style, the Investment Program offers investors the flexibility of choosing from a variety of fund management styles.

Eligible participants also benefit from among the lowest fund management fees available anywhere.

CDSPI’s service representatives work exclusively for dental professionals and understand the needs of the profession. The same is true for the licensed representatives at CDSPI’s affiliate company — CDSPI Advisory Services Inc., who provide the profession with insurance and investment planning advice. And unlike many other financial service organizations, the licensed insurance and investment professionals here are not paid on commission — so you’ll never be pressured into buying anything.

How do I apply for the insurance or investment plans available through CDSPI?

To apply for any Canadian Dentists’ Insurance Program or Canadian Dentists’ Investment Program plan, eligible participants simply need to complete and submit an application form. You can obtain any Program plan application by mail or fax by contacting CDSPI, or you can obtain them right now by visiting our insurance forms or investment forms pages.
For insurance plans, you may indicate on the application form how you wish to be billed for the premium. When you apply for an investment plan for the first time, simply enclose a minimum $50 contribution cheque (or a void cheque if you wish to contribute through pre-authorized chequing).

You are eligible to apply for any insurance plan offered through the Canadian Dentists’ Insurance Program if you are:
• A licensed dentist in Canada who is a member of the CDA or a co-sponsoring provincial dental association.

Additionally, the Program’s Term 100 Life Insurance, Family Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, Travel Edge Insurance, Personal Umbrella Liability Insurance and Legal Expense Insurance allow dentists to include immediate family members under their coverage. As well, spouses and adult children (and their spouses) of eligible dentists can apply for their own Term 100 Life Insurance.

Immediate family members of eligible dentists can apply for their own Travel Edge Insurance and Personal Umbrella Liability Insurance coverages.

Employees of licensed dentists (dentists who are members of the CDA or a co-sponsoring provincial dental association) are eligible to apply for the following Insurance Program coverages:
Dental Office Staff Insurance

Personal Umbrella Liability Insurance
Travel Edge Insurance

Employees of the CDA or a co-sponsoring provincial dental association are eligible to apply for Travel Edge Insurance and Personal Umbrella Liability Insurance.

Why does CDSPI have an affiliate company (CDSPI Advisory Services Inc.)?

CDSPI representatives can provide participants with information about the insurance and investment plans it administers. However, CDSPI’s representatives are not licensed to provide insurance or investment planning advice.

That’s why CDSPI created an affiliate company, called CDSPI Advisory Services Inc. (formerly Professional Guide Line Inc.) which is a licensed insurance agency providing advisory services to participants in the Canadian Dentists' Insurance Program and the Canadian Dentists’ Investment Program.

Staffed by non-commissioned professionals, CDSPI Advisory Services’ representatives are licensed to provide insurance and investment planning advice. (Restrictions may apply to advisory services in certain jurisdictions.)

Licensed insurance agents can advise you on the types of insurance you’ll need and coverage amounts that will best suit your situation. Additionally, the company’s investment planning consultants can explain your investment options and help you implement an investment strategy that’s right for you.
