Effective 12:01am EST March 7, 2022, the Government of Canada adjusted its cruise ship travel advisory from a Level 4 (avoid all travel) to a Level 2 (exercise a high degree of caution). This means the Government no longer recommends that Canadians avoid cruise ship travel.
With the lifting of the Level 4 cruise ship travel advisory, expenses related to COVID-19 are now eligible under our standard plans as long as on the effective date, there is no Level 3 or Level 4 travel advisory related to COVID-19 in effect at the destination. Here are the details.
Emergency Hospital and Medical (EHM)
Benefits you if you test positive while abroad and require medical treatment for COVID-19. This includes coverage for the cost of a positive COVID-19 test.
If you have to cancel your trip as a result of becoming ill with COVID-19 in Canada prior to departure from your province or territory of residence.
If you have to interrupt your trip after departure as a result of falling ill with COVID-19, please note:
COVID-19 remains a known event for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. Therefore, for policies that were purchased on or after March 11, 2020, any Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption claims related to previous or future Government of Canada travel advisories connected to COVID-19 will continue to not be payable.
There is no benefit for denied boarding under Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption benefits within our plans.
