Corporate Accountant (12-Month Contract)

Created by dentists, CDSPI is a not-for-profit organization established in 1959 with the sole purpose of arranging programs for the benefit of dentists who are members of CDSPI's member dental associations. CDPSI helps dentists and dental students achieve and maintain financial well-being by empowering them to protect and grow their wealth with customized financial advice, insurance, and investments.

About the Job:
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for executing the accounting functions of the organization by conducting reporting and reconciliations, balancing accounts, and preparing journal entries. Furthermore, this position provides support for monthly reporting and the annual year-end and audit processes. Alongside colleagues, this position plays an integral part in ensuring the business is operating effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare all monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly and quarterly investment and insurance related balance sheet reconciliations
- Verify and coordinate the daily transactions related to the Investment business
- Balance the investment and insurance bank accounts daily
- Calculate and remit investment federal and provincial witholding taxes
- Prepare journal entries
- Maintain report for interest accounts
- Aid in annual audit process
- Prepare insurance Trust bank quarterly breakdowns
- Prepare PST reconciliation for government remittance
- Responsible for any other duties assigned by the Senior Accountant, Controller, or CFO
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- College or university diploma in accounting
- CPA (or equivalent) accounting designation or candidate preferred
- 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in the accounting field
- Financial services and/or insurance experience is an asset
- Willingness to embrace change and explore alternatives in a dynamic and evolving environment
- Ability to build relationships and network across the organization
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills
- Demonstrated initiative to take ownership of the role
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Electronic banking experience is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is an asset
Work Environment:
- Hybrid model: Work from home and the office
- Attend CDSPI's Toronto Office as needed in accordance with company policy
